Transport United as the champion of 2018 season

Transport United FC being crowned as champion of BOB national league 2018.  The BOB league Final match was played on (date) at the very national stadium of Bhutan, Changlimithang, where Transport United played against Thimphu City.

The last matches of BOB National league were a very crucial match for all the four team, namely, Paro FC, Transport United FC, Ugyen Academy FC and Thimphu City FC as all these teams were separated with thin margin of point difference. PARO FC was on the top of table with 18 points and Ugyen Academy FC was 2nd with 17 points. On the other hand, Transport United FC was in the third position on the table with 16 points and Thimphu City FC in the fourth position with14 points.

For Thimphu City FC to secure the third position, It was a must win game. For Ugyen Academy FC and Paro FC to win the title, they just needed draw result. Whereas it was a must win match for Transport United FC to secure 1st.

However, at the end of the day, Ugyen Academy FC lost to Transport United FC with final score of 3-4, and Paro FC lost to Thimphu City FC with final score of 2-1. This resulted to the ultimate crowning of Transport United FC as the champion of BOB national league 2018 with 19 points. Paro FC became the first runner up with 18 points and Thimphu City FC secured the 3rd place with 17 points. Even though the points between Ugyen Academy FC and Transport United FC were same, due to goal differences Thimphu City FC finished 3rd in the 2018 season. The BOB league-closing match was played on 4th November at the national stadium of Bhutan, Changlimithang, where Paro FC played against Thimphu City FC.

 

 

A Bhutanese CR7 fanboy on ‘Ballon d’Or 2018’

The much-awaited Ballon d’Or Award will be revealed on December 3 and the list of players who have been nominated is creating excitement among fans.

19-year old Kuenzang Dorji pursuing Bsc. Environmental Management in first year in Royal Thimphu College shares his views about the ballon d’Or 2018. He says “ Cristiano Ronaldo is  G.O.A.T. (Greatest of all time)”. He believes that the Juventus Striker is likely to make a streak of 3 consecutive win of ballon d’Or by winning the award this year. He believes that Ronaldo, who made his big move from the Spanish football club Real Madrid to Italian Club Juventus this summer is in a great form by scoring 4 goals in 8 appearances.

This year’s list of nomination is mixture prominent figures which leaves the fans with the question, can the rising stars like Mo Salah, Neymar Junior, Anotonio Griezmann stop the dominance of Leo Messi and CR7 over taking home the award.

These awards are given by France Football, French football magazine. It is given to the male player deemed to have performed the best in the previous year based on voting by football journalists.The nominees for the award are selected by France Football, where they nominate 30 players, while the voting is done by group of international journalists and only one vote is counted from each country.

There may be a lot a criticism, but it is the stepping stone to success. This is what Sonam Tenzin, a formal youth national football player from Tashigang says. The 18-year-old Manchester United fan, who is currently playing for the Thimphu City FC Club went through a tough journey to reach where he is. “It wasn’t easy,” he says, and he tried his best to not give up.  People would not hesitate to criticise him, even if he played one bad game. However, Tenzin took it in a positive way. In fact, it has helped him to get better atthe game, he says.

Passionate about the game, he feels that the sport is developing in the country, year after year. There has also been a rise in the number of talented players joining teams, which gives scope for tough competition. The game is getting more popular because of the growing number of artificial turfs in the country, he says.
